Over time, the problem got worse, to the point where the monitor kept turning off and staying off with nothing but a black screen. This means that if you have the settings between battery, and "plugged in" set differently, the Acer will default to the battery sleep settings. Thanks for the solution. Moving the mouse restores the screen, but only for a short time until it happens... you contact them and ask HOW it can be the hard drive when you already tried with it removed and it did the same thing....
