Thanks! When I connected my 1TB external harddrive to my Windows 10 Laptop, I got a message saying "there was an error connecting to the USB device. Reformat the drive with the newer NTFS file system or older FAT32 file system so Windows will be able to recognize it.

Make sure the hard drive has the correct external power adapter and that the light on the front of the drive is turning on and is not orange or red. After reboot, there was a USB icon showing up on the right cornor of the desktop.
So do we have any other way to have this data recovered before we do these steps. I just needed to change the letter path on my external ssd after I reformatted it like 3 times for the computer to recognize it again. My device was under drive E:, and I changed it to F:, because I saw some people saying online that you have to change the drive there to another one and I can see the drive, and it says working properly, but there's no way for me to open it, it seems thus far.
