Sometimes if you connect your drive to the front usb ports, it can give you trouble. Have you checked under device manager to see if it shows there? Check under device In my case the drive appeared to have lost its "designation".Other brands of USB external hard drive plugged into the computer are also not recognized, but flash drives are recognized.The external In Disk Management it shows up a drive with Simple Layout, Basic Type, Status is Healthy (Primary Partition) with Capacity of 1.8TB.
