I just added a second SATA hard drive, a 500GB Seagate (ST3500631NS). My unseen HDD shows as "Unallocated" in Disk Management. Once again. I have now managed to format it thanks to your instructions.

OK, here's what worked for me. Click Start, RIGHT-click My Computer in the window, then click on Manage from the menu. Nothing.Turned it off, and on, and rebooted, still nothing.Left it for 20 mins to make a drink, and when I came back, suddenly the drive was there in Disk Management.... man today was one of those days....
